Well I got an update email from Brayden. Here it is!
how are things? sorry for the updates not coming my computer is not longer my computer.
so the last few days have been good working hard with the team we are mostly doing track but a little road to balance things out. I seem to be more comfortable behind the Motorcycle but for some reason I was not close enough to it. All of the team is bonding well. I am sure Me, Devon and Brian will continue to be confused at what the plan is for the days but I think that will get better or at least it should. I am doing my own Breakfast and lunch but sharing dinners with Brain. In China it will be different I think as far as eating goes (interesting foods!)
I am getting more and more excited as the days continue.
well that is all i know got to go.

I know a lot of people have been asking “When will Brayden be on TV?” Well, there is no definitive answer to that question. However, CBC will be airing Paralympic coverage, there’s just no guarantee that at a certain time there will be cycling coverage. However, here are the scheduled times for your opportunity to see Brayden competing on TV:
The CBC English station will have two hours in the afternoon on 6, 7, 13 and 14 September. The CBC French station will show two hours also in the afternoon on 20 and 21 September.
There will be on-demand, online coverage available on www.ParalympicSport.TV, the IPC’s internet TV channel. Once there, click on the center picture where it says “start”. It can take the player a couple minutes to begin playing any video, so you may need to be patient. Daily news and highlight shows will be offered, as well as live coverage wherever possible. More than 150 hours of Paralympic sports are already available on the channel.
Additionally, daily news will also be shown on YouTube at www.youtube.com/ParalympicSportTV. Fans of Paralympic Sport can also join the group “Your Paralympic Moment” and upload video clips of their special Paralympic Moment. The best clips will be released on ParalympicSport.TV after the Games.
If anybody hears or reads of any more information, leave a comment on this post (by clicking the comment link below), or email myself or Breanne (kevin [at] designerkev [dot] com, breannemcdougall [at] gmail [dot] com).
Update
If you want to narrow the times down even further, you can look at the sport schedule for the paralympics on the official website. The track events go first from September 8 to September 11. The road events will be from September 12 until September 14.

Sorry to those who have been waiting for daily updates… Kevin & I are on vacation in Oregon and Brayden’s been having some technical difficulties.
I have heard from him though, and this is his news:
Australia is nice, he likes it there and seems to be having a good time! They moved condos once and he lost his helmet during the move. But after a few messages back and forth with me I suggested that he check the old place… and surprise, surprise, there it was!
In other news, Brayden called home this morning. Someone had broken into their condo and stolen his laptop. Everyone was upstairs, but Brayden & Devon’s computers were in the dining room and were stolen. Devon also had his passport and visa for china stolen. So I guess Brayden’s lucky in that regard. But it means that his updates will be communicated through text messages to me. So it might be a little tricky!!! It also means he won’t be able to email people back unless he borrows someone else’s computer.
While he was on the phone he said that he’s doing great cycling wise. They’ve announced that the Team Sprints spots are not finalized which means that Brayden may be taking Jean’s spot as the lead out! So, currently Brayden will be competing in the Pursuit, Kilo (both on track), Road Race and Time Trial (both on road). If he competes in the Team Sprint it is also on the track… we will keep you posted!
That’s all for now, I’m off to do more shopping…

Well, Brayden left last night without a hitch! He’s flying to Perth, Australia where he will be training for a couple weeks leading up to the Paralympics. Perth is in the same time zone as Beijing and has similar temperatures as well as facilities for them to train at. I’m sure Brayden will LOVE Australia. (In fact, I can’t think of any place he’s gone that he hasn’t loved… )
My parents will fly out from Calgary on September 2nd to meet him in Beijing – until then we’ve asked that he at least email home every once and a while so we know he’s alive and well. We’ll add those emails to the site for everyone to enjoy!

On Sunday my Mom had a going away party for Brayden… we originally thought it’d be about 40 people… it turns out Brayden’s more popular than we think! 82 people came to wish him good luck!!! It was great to see so many faces, lots of cyclists that I hadn’t met (or had, but they were wearing spandex & helmets at the time and therefore all looked quite different at our place!), and lots of family & friends.
Brayden was so grateful to see everyone before he left! We’ll have to have another party when he gets back so he can tell us all about Australia and what it was like to be in the Paralympic Games. We’re all so proud of him and his accomplishments, we know he’ll do wonderful representing Canada! Go Brayden Go!

I should preface this story by saying that myself and my parents knew about the strong possibility of Brayden going to Beijing for almost a week before he knew. We wanted to be 100% positive about everything before letting him know.
So when my phone rang last Tuesday (5th) I wasn’t surprised when I answered and Brayden yelled, “I’M GOING TO BEIJING!!!” I laughed and said, yes, I know Brayd, I’m going too! This (for future reference) was not the correct reaction. He was like, oh, yah… Mom told me you’re going – is Kevin there? Does he know? Kevin wasn’t home, so Brayden continued his phone calls…
