Big Day Yesterday!

Well Brayden is off racing in Baie-Comeau, Quebec at the World Cup – yesterday he raced in the Time Trial (17.3km) and got a BRONZE medal!! He races again on Sunday in the road race and then he comes home on Monday.

Road Results

Well the website finally posted the results from the Road Race – Brayden came 7th again with a time of 1:36:04 – Great Job Brayden!!!

He’s now on his way back to Quebec – next races are Road Nationals in Burlington – June 30th to July 3rd. Go Brayden Go!

Time Trial Results

Hey guys – sorry it took a bit to get this up – I haven’t heard from Brayden, but they finally posted the results online. Brayden came 7th with a personal best! (32:50:40) Great job Brayden!!! Road Race is on Sunday for him (middle of Saturday night for us) – I’ll get those results up as soon as they’re available.

Off to Spain

Hey guys – I know it’s been a while since we’ve posted (so long in fact that I forgot the site to log into…) – Brayden has had a busy year – he’s been to Italy already this spring and has been training in Quebec since then. Brayden headed off to Segovia, Spain on Sunday and will be competing in the Para-Cycling Road UCI World Cup there.
First race is tomorrow – at 2pm Segovia time (6am Calgary time) – it’s a 21km Time Trial.
The other race as far as I can tell is at 11am on Sunday (3am Calgary time?) – the 55.5km Road Race. Brayden seems to think there’s a third race, but I can’t find it on the Spanish site… so I’ll keep you posted if I hear of any other results!
He’ll be racing against 12 other cyclists in his category.
You can cheer him on by sending him a message here or on Facebook!
GO BRAYDEN GO!!!
PS: The website for the race is here. Just in case you’re interested!

Road Race

Today Brayden had the road race – and unfortunately he had mechanical problems and finished well back in 12th.

It was a good day for Canada though as Jaye finished 5th and Marie Claude finished 2nd for a silver medal!

That’s it for Brayden’s racing for a while… track worlds aren’t until the fall, so he’ll be coming home to Calgary and continuing to train as he goes back to Mount Royal in September.

Worlds Update!

Today was the Time Trial and Brayden did awesome.

Brayden missed the podium by 30 sec and finished 4th in 40:31 – a personal best! He held 2nd going into the long downhill (5 km to go), but could not hold off the US rider.

Tomorrow is the Road Race – GO BRAYDEN GO!!

Update from Brayden

Sorry guys – I’ve been getting updates from Brayden and just haven’t had a minute to post them. Here’s the summarized version:

Been busy training with Eric getting ready for Worlds
There was a Worlds camp in Bromont with all the cyclists to prepare
Now in Baie-Comeau for the Worlds
Baie-Comeau is only Worlds for Road Racing:

      Time Trial is on August 20 – 2 laps , 22.8km
      Road Race is on August 21 – 5 laps , 57km

Here’s the official website for the races and I’ll be posting as I get emails from my Dad/brother – feel free to send Brayden messages through the site – he’d love to hear from you!

Track races

Well the track races were on Wednesday this week and they went great! I got a gold (and the Canada jersey) in the Kilo and a bronze in the Pursuit. My coach and parents were very happy and now I’m preparing for Worlds in August. My parents head back to Calgary today, and they’ll come back to Quebec for Worlds, so I’ll be on my own here again for a few weeks – good thing the Tour de France is on! Lots to watch!!

National Results

Well this weekend was the time trial and the road race – I came 6th in the Time Trial (out of 12), so not too bad, but not as good as I’d hoped. We decided that for the road race we’d put the shifter on my right instead. So we did that – and then I had the road race yesterday. I came 4th in the road race, I did pretty good considering my chain came off in lap two and I had to ride the remaining six laps by myself. My friend Jaye from Calgary came in 2nd, so he’s made the National team for Baie Comeau! (Worlds) Great job Jaye!!!

Anyway, I have my track races on Wednesday and possibly Thursday. I’ll keep you posted!

Preparing for Nationals

I was just thinking it is time for a update from my end. I’m back in Quebec being coached by Eric. I was staying at the cycling centre before Spain and a little after, but now I’m staying at a person’s house with her and her sister and mother. They are mostly French but their Engish is way better then my French. We’re all making out good they have a English/French dictionary so when we don’t know the word we just refer to the book.

I am working hard and having fun in Quebec. There have been some people re-surfacing the track because it had some bumps and a few holes so they’re fixing it.

Last weekend I rode with some able-bodied athletes for a long ride, from the cycling centre in Bromont to the US. I’m not sure how far that is, but it was way more then the 3 hour training ride I was supposed to do that day!

Nationals are this weekend, so Mom & Dad are coming soon. My first race is on Saturday – but the full schedule and results will be posted here.
